Our two countries' defense and national security relationship includes all kinds of working together, such as protecting the continent as a whole, working together on common goals through groups like NORAD, NATO, and the Five Eyes, sharing information, working together on defense supplies, and having good relationships between law enforcement agencies. Canada and the US recently agreed to speed up the upgrading of NORAD. Canada and the U.S. are working together to reduce violent extremism, child sex exploitation, cross-border smuggling, and gun violence on both sides of the border. They are also investing in NORAD and the Canadian Armed Forces to support continental defense in a wider sense, including F-35 fighter jets and related infrastructure. They are also working to strengthen their cybersecurity cooperation to make our critical infrastructure more resilient and safer.
